This hood has an integrated overhead light, and it is sufficiently effective. The down side: it is not that powerful, super noisy, and ugly.

The fan really doesn't draw up the steam from the items cooking on the stove. I tend to use the front burners and so the steam goes up the front side and condenses. The steam doesn't go through the filter.

When I purchased this vent at P C Richards in November we were told that the vent had two lights on it. The vent only has one light on the unit, and it is not a bright light at all...The light did not work when they installed the vent on December 10th, a repairman from G E came out today and advised us that one of the wires was not connected when they installed the vent last month and that is why the light did not work. Not happy with this vent at all.

Not real impressed with the directions for installation. Didn't mention where some pieces like the duct attachment where affixed. Material bent too easily and was a bit damaged before installing. Didn't notice damage until after installed.

This does a better job than the previous built in microwave did. This took me a good portion of the morning to install. I have no experience with this type of work and I think it turned out great. It definitely looks fabulous in my kitchen. Please note, it does not come with a plug, but meant for hard wiring it. I purchased the plug from the GE website (hood purchased from Lowes). A YouTube video later, I was able to successfully hook up the plug and the unit works wonderful.

This was sold as a vented hood, but GE shipped this in the recirculating configuration. The box indicated VENTED not convertible. Ship a vented hood in a default VENTED configuration. The hood is way too loud. The 40 watt light gets too hot. This hood is a decoration. I am not using it.

I love this vent hood. Our previous vent fan was so loud and I can't stand to have them on when cooking because they get so loud. This one is not loud at all and overall is a very sturdy product.

Nice looking unit and was pretty easy to install, but the light it provides is terrible, like cooking by a night light.. Very poor design as far as the light placement. A 60 watt bulb doesn't even give good even lighting. If I had been aware of this flaw I probably would have looked at other makes.

It took a lot longer than 10 minutes to install but the instructions were clear and I did have to add some shims to install correctly. However, it is a little louder than I expected especially on high speed. Otherwise I would have given it a higher score.

Good product, easy to install, has a few glitches. Front area of hood I had to drill two extra holes to mount flush. Hood sticks out a little further than then replacement offering a head hit if your not alert.
